H4A Board of Directors Elections, 2026-2028

We’re excited to share an exciting opportunity to join the Board of Directors for H4A, comprised of over 9,000 alumni who identify as Asian and Asian American across the university. As we continue to grow and expand our impact, we are seeking passionate and committed individuals who share our vision and can contribute their expertise and insights to our board. Serving on the board offers a chance to help shape our strategic direction, strengthen community ties, and ensure the sustainability of our programs.

We are particularly interested in individuals with leadership, marketing, community outreach, and fundraising backgrounds, but we welcome diverse perspectives and experiences. If this interests you, we are eager to hear about your interests and skills and to explore a role that would fit you. Please nominate yourself or a fellow Harvard alumnus/a for the H4A Board of Directors by October 25, 2025 (instructions below)

At this time, 4 seats on the H4A Board of Directors are open. Two-year terms begin January 5, 2026.

 Q: Who is eligible to RUN for the Board of Directors?

You must have a Harvard degree and be able to fulfill all of the duties expected of a Director. Those who have selected the free “Basic Membership” option are ineligible to run. To join H4A, go to haaaa.net. Log in and click on “Join.” 

 

Q: What makes someone a good fit for H4A Board?

Some factors that strengthen one’s candidacy include:

  • Current or prior engagement in H4A and/or Harvard Alumni Association activities
  • Willingness to contribute your skills, time, and network as part of the board leadership
  • Engagement with Asian American communities and issues
  • Vision for what you would want to do as part of H4A 
  • A history of working cooperatively and respectfully as part of a team 
  • Ability and willingness to tap into a large network
  • Board/leadership experience 
  • Diversity (in terms of ethnicity, Harvard school attended, age, region, etc.)
  • A track record of success in one’s field 
 

Q: What is expected of Directors?

Directors are expected to:

  • Provide fiduciary oversight.
  • Provide ongoing strategic counsel and advice. 
  • Make H4A a philanthropic priority.  
  • Promote H4A. Be an ambassador for H4A and make helpful connections with other potential supporters.
  • Attend at least 4 of the 6 board meetings.
  • Attend major organizational events such as global summit and a local chapter event every year.
  • Serve on and occasionally lead board committees: Overall, we estimate 5 hours/month.
     

Q: How does the selection process work?

Please email your bio, headshot, and vision statement that details why you are a good fit to nominations@haaaa.net by 11:59 PM on October 25, 2025. Your vision statement should address the criteria above. All qualified candidates will be invited to a Zoom meeting on 11/2/25 at 6 PM ET to meet with the H4A leadership team, share more about their interest in running, and answer questions. The ballot will likely include more candidates than the number of seats up for election. The H4A leadership team will then review the candidates and vote in the December board meeting. The elected board members will be notified by December 21, 2025.
